Welcome to Local Health.
Local Health is a new tool within the Health Profiles programme. Health Profiles are commissioned by the Department of Health and produced by the Public Health Observatories in England working in partnership. They provide quality assured health information presented clearly for users within health service, local government and the public.
Local Health gives you access to interactive maps and reports at a small area level (Middle Super Output Area level) and at local authority level. You can also combine these areas to create your own geographies, and view the information and reports for these new areas.
Reports produced in Local Health allow you to compare any selected area to the England average for a selection of indicators.
Local Health has now been updated with the Small Area Indicators for Joint Strategic Needs Assessment, produced by the Public Health Observatories (March 2012). A full list of the available indicators can be found here, and the full dataset can be found at www.apho.org.uk/jsna.
All feedback on this version of Local Health would be welcomed. Please complete our survey, or alternatively contact healthprofiles@sepho.nhs.uk if you have any queries
You may access the information, maps and reports in two ways:
Direct Access: This will take you directly to the interactive maps and reports
Select indicator: This allows you to select a map by choosing the theme, indicator and geographic level
The documentation section of the website provides access to specific instructions for using Local Health, along with a more detailed user guide to help you make full use of the interactive maps and reports. Also included is a full list of themes and indicators available within Local Health.
